New Year's Eve Transport in London

New Year's Eve Transport in London

As every year, thousands of tourists and residents will be traveling around London on New Year's Eve: many will head to central London to watch the fireworks display, others will be keen not to delay reaching the boarding pier for the Thames Cruise, and others will attend parties and nightclubs to celebrate until dawn. Everyone, we imagine, will then want to return to their hotel or home, no matter the hour.

Fortunately, Transport for London (TfL) tends to keep public transport running throughout the New Year's celebrations. Most of the London Underground will operate all night, but stations near the fireworks event (Southbank) and other busy areas of London may be exit or interchange only or have queues. Some bus lines will run more frequently, while some buses traveling through central London may be diverted due to fireworks and public events. In any case, everyone will be able to move around all night on London's public transport, although unfortunately, there will be no free travel for people traveling in London on New Year's Eve, a tradition that ended in 2020.

Make sure to check the TfL website before you set off to avoid any unwanted travel delays before the midnight countdown and to ensure a stress-free return at the end of the party!
